Itmad Ud Daula

Often called the “Baby Taj Mahal”, the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula is one of the most enchanting Mughal monuments in Agra. Built between 1622 and 1628 by Nur Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir, this exquisite marble mausoleum is dedicated to her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg, who held the title of Itmad-ud-Daula (Pillar of the State).

The monument is regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal because it was the first Mughal structure built entirely in white marble, with delicate inlay work of semi-precious stones that later inspired the Taj. Nestled on the banks of the Yamuna River, this serene tomb is a must-visit for travelers exploring the historical treasures of Agra.
